Anti-Wrinkle Treatment

Introduction

Over time our skin reacts to ageing and climatic elements, particularly the sun. Years of muscle actions like frowning and squinting cause us to develop frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet around the eyes. These lines can give us an unwanted tired or angry appearance. Now there are simple non-surgical techniques to relax our muscles and smooth out facial lines and wrinkles. These anti wrinkle injections can also be used to easily reshape eyebrows, often giving them a better, more natural shape.

What is a Muscle Relaxant?

The product we use here at The Metrocentre is a natural, purified protein that relaxes wrinkle-causing muscles creating an improved appearance. This treatment relaxes the muscles that cause those lines to form and help keep them relaxed for up to 4 months.

How is the anti-wrinkle treatment performed?

The solution is injected into selected facial muscles using a very fine needle. Discomfort is minimal and brief and no anaesthetic is usually required. Ice packs can be applied pre procedure to reduce skin sensation temporarily. Patients have described the feeling as similar to that of a mild ant bite.

Does the anti-wrinkle treatment affect my whole face?

NO.
The muscle relaxant solution works on specific areas treated leaving surrounding muscles to function as usual. You still produce normal facial expressions but without the wrinkles! With most contemporary injection techniques,your facial features are NOT frozen only softened.

How soon will I see results?

After the injection it takes 3 to 4 days for it to begin to take effect and around 7- 10 days to see the full effect.

How long does it last?

The effect can last up to 4 months before lines slowly begin to return. If you have repeated treatments the effect tends to last longer.

What happens if I choose to stop treatments?

If you choose not to have further treatment your muscles will eventually return to normal activity and your wrinkles will gradually revert to their pre-treatment levels.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects may include some swelling and redness which usually disappears within a couple of days.

How long does it take?

Most treatments can be done in your lunch hour. There is no "down time" necessary. The whole procedure takes no longer than 15 - 20 minutes. After the initial consultation "pop in" times for further treatment should take no longer than 10 minutes, please call the clinic as these appointments are available at short notice.

How safe is anti-wrinkle treatment?

It is very safe. It has been used safely by doctors for nearly 30 years and is used by millions of people both men and women throughout the world every year. The particular solution used at VenusCentre has been used to treat a variety of medical conditions such as muscle spasm and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) for many years. It has only been comparatively recently that it has been used for cosmetic purposes. It is one of the most studied and researched medical treatments with no long term side effects recorded.

Can I resume normal activities after treatment?

Yes.
However, you will be instructed not to exercise, lie down or touch the treated areas for 4 hours.
