Where did this treatment come from?

The Native Americans, Hawaiian Kahunas, Mayan Indians and the Chinese are only some of those who have passed the practice down from generation to generation.

Known as thermotherapy, this treatment utilizes heat to alleviate pain and to promote both blood and lymph circulation. Heat also stimulates the collagen fibres in tendons and muscles back to their resting length, decreases joint stiffness and reduces muscle spasm. Endorphins can also be released during and after treatment, inducing a much deeper state of mental, physical and emotional relaxation.

I have a sporting injury - can I still use Hot Stone therapy?

Heat application should not be used within the first 24 hrs of injury eg acute inflammation, and should not be used on traumatized muscles and joints. Hot Stone massage can be used in the later stages of recovery to reduce muscle stiffness and enhance flexibility.
