MICRODERMABRASION

What is it?

Microdermabrasion is a technique that is a safe, fast and effective way to painlessly restore and rejuvenate the skin. Using fine crystals to exfoliate dead cells, Microdermabrasion removes the outer layer of the skin (the stratum corneum) to stimulate cell turnover, producing more collagen. It can be used to treat a range of skin conditions and for skin resurfacing.

MircodermabrasionWhy is it so Beneficial?

As skin naturally ages, its appearance looks dull and lifeless due to the combination of dead skin build up on the surface of the stratum corneum and the accumulation of toxins within the cell layers. Simultaneously, cell renewal slows down. Consequentially, less nourishment is actually delivered to the cells and cellular wastes can build up interstitially.

What can I expect from Microdermabrasion?

As the combination of skin exfoliation with light suction stimulates the production of new cells at the base of the skin, common results of treatment can be enhanced texture and elasticity. The skin looks fresher and healthier. Over a series of treatments, there can be a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, tightening of enlarged pores, elimination of blackheads and whiteheads, reduction of scar tissue and a reduction of blemishes caused by sun damage.

When will I notice Results?

Immediately.
There is no "down time" with treatments. The skin is visibly glowing immediately after treatment, and feels smoother and cleaner. There may be some redness which will subside within a few hours.

Can all Skin Types experience Microdermabrasion?

Yes, all skin types can have treatment successfully.
Asian and skin types IV - VI will require more treatments at a lower setting.

What is the treatment regime?

The number of treatments needed would depend largely on what type of skin problems are being corrected however, a typical treatment regime would include 5 - 8 treatments with Microdermabrasion. These treatments are usually 7 - 10 days apart, but no longer than 14 days. As the skin needs time to regenerate between sessions, it is not recommended to have treatments before this time.

Is there any after treatment care required?

The only necessity after treatment is the use of sunscreen. As there is new skin exposed, sun exposure will increase the likelihood of pigmentation and premature ageing effects. Avoiding sustained sun exposure for 24 hours is recommended. Rationale SPF Skin protection is available from Venus Centre.
